Serving Whitman County since 1877
When was the last time, if ever, that a Whitman County B team limited three consecutive foes to single digit totals? Colton’s girls pulled off the defensive feat as they continue their torrid launch in the league race.
The Wildcats held Touchet to five points in the Friday league round, Tekoa/Oakesdale to eight in the Saturday round and Genesee to eight in the Monday non-leaguer before the holiday shutdown. All three games were in the Colton gym.
The two league wins over the weekend put Colton at 4-0 in the league standings.
Mollie Kramer hit 19 against Touchet in the Friday game. The Wildcats posted a 28-2 lead in the first quarter of a game which went into a running clock mode.
Saturday against the ‘hawks, Colton booked another roaring start with a 23-2 after the first period. The ‘hawks were shut out on the last two quarters.
Colton finished the defensive run with a 74-8 win over Genesee Monday.
St. John/Endicott girls kept pace with a pair of league wins over the weekend to also post a 4-0 in the SE run. They escaped Palouse Friday with a four-point comeback win, 42-38, and then out-paced the Rosalia Spartans on their home court Saturday, 51-43.
The Vikings Friday jumped to a 10-4 lead in the first quarter on their home court, but the Eagles bounced back. Gretchen Van Lith finished with a game high 18 points.
Kaycie Adair hit 14 for the Vikings.
Saturday, SJE booked another strong second half with Alli Winters hitting 21 against the Spartans. Briann Maley hit 13 for the Spartans.
The Spartans Tuesday bounced back with a 50-20 non-league win over Cusick on the home court with Kristen Paulson hitting 13 and Hannah Sims 12.
