Chemical spill cleaned

Colfax emergency crews responded to an antifreeze spill on Main Street Colfax, Jan. 3. A 30-foot streak of antifreeze which spilled in the gutter in front of the Thrifty Grandmother’s Store was discovered at about 2:15 p.m. Monday.

Crews first asked owners of cars parked on that block to move so the long stain could be reached. A thick layer of absorbent was sprinkled down along the streak to soak up the antifreeze. City crews later cleaned off the absorbent.
