Rosalia bounced Colton from its share of the Whitman County top spot by handing the Wildcats a 58-34 loss in a rout Friday night on the Spartans’ home court.
Every Spartan found the scorebook, as Rosalia rolled out to a 13-point first quarter lead and ended the first half up 39-12. The Rosalia offense kept Colton guessing throughout the game.

Jared Hereford led Rosalia with 15 points on seven of nine shooting. Bomber Casey Brown added 13.
Taylor Spence led Colton with 10 points as the dynamic Wildcat duo of Dustin Patchen and Josh Straughan was caged for just 12 combined points.
Rosalia Saturday night traveled to Palouse, where they pestered the Vikings into 30 turnovers on the way to a 55-30 win.
Center Nathan Richards put up 17 points and Casey Brown added 13 for the orange crew. Race Martin’s 10 points topped GP.
Garfield/Palouse cashed a bit of luck when a pair of Touchet buzzer shots clanked off the rim to give the visiting Vikings a 44-42 win. Race Martin had 13 points to top GP, and Nathan Cocking added 10 and 10 rebounds.
Colton rebounded Saturday night with an unprecedented 73-67 win at St. John, the school’s first win over St. John/Endicott in more than a decade.
Straughan knocked down five treys on his way to 25 points. Little brother Jake added 13 points with three bombs and Patchen chipped in a strong double-double, 16 points and 16 rebounds.
Mason Van Lith led St. John/Endicott with 20 points, as a fourth quarter charge brought the Eagles from a 16-point deficit to within two points before a pair of Steve Eacker jump shots iced the Colton win.
The Dustin Patchen show took hold in the Colton gym Tuesday night. The junior center knocked in 16 of his 22 shots from the floor on his way to 40 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks as he led the Wildcats to a 77-69 win over Asotin.
Spence put 14 points and ten boards, and Straughan added 10 points and 10 boards to add to the Wildcat charge. Asotin was paced by 25 points apiece from Drew Heitstuman and Ben Servatius.
Mason Van Lith powered St. John/Endicott to a 70-61 win over Odessa/Harrington Tuesday night with 26 points. The Eagles iced the game late, adding seven points to the final margin in the fourth quarter. Joey Kucklick added 10.
Friday night it was the Eagles holding off a late charge on their way to a 61-49 win at LaCrosse/Washtucna. SJE booked a 51-29 lead over the Tigercats after the third quarter, but LW could not find enough firepower to close beyond the final score.
Van Lith again led the Eagles with 13 points, and Kaleb Simon and Kyle Raynor each put in 10. Jeff Zimmer had 19 points for LW.
Zimmer Tuesday put up 17 points, and Darcy Stamper and Jake Aune put up 12 each as LW used a 24-point third quarter explosion to down visiting Touchet 57-54.
The T-Cats traveled to Oakesdale Saturday and dropped a shooting match to Tekoa/Oakesdale 76-70. The two teams roared out of the half-time locker room to combine for 57 third quarter points.
Joseph Tampien’s 20 points paced the Nighthawks. Max Mueller added 19. Jeff Zimmer and Jake Aune each put up 25 points for LW.
The TO win came one night after the Nighthawks fell to visiting Pomeroy in overtime 67-57. The Pirates pressed on the gas in the extra session after the ‘hawks closed a nine-point fourth quarter gap to force overtime.
Marcus Pluff had 11 to best the ‘hawks and Joe Gaines added 10. Justin Ruark’s 15 points topped four Pomeroy scorers who reached double digits.
Tuesday night, the ‘hawks topped visiting Dayton 61-48 behind the 19 points of Joseph Tampien. The Bulldogs put together a third quarter rally, but TO pushed the pedal in the final frame to put the game in the bag.
Pomeroy outlasted Touchet 49-48 at home Saturday in a match-up between the southern league schools. Justin Ruark had 19 points to top the Bucs, and Matt Kates had 20 to lead the Indians.
