Christmas tree count nears 7 tons

Area Boy Scouts picked up almost seven tons of Christmas trees during their Jan. 8 collection drive. Whitman County Public Works Director Mark Storey reported Monday more than 13,800 pounds of Christmas trees crossed the scale at the county landfill. The trees were disposed in the yard waste area of the landfill.
