The first community potluck for 2011 will be Sunday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Lamont Community Center. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
Betty Stone’s Sunday, Jan. 9, dinner guests were Patty and Sonny Etheredge and Cody Stuart of Spokane and Tiffany, Seth and their son, Wrangler, of Wilbur.
Sheri Bolden of Tukwila arrived Saturday to spend two days with her parents, Don and Sherrill Nelson.
Kay Dirks, Joan Nelson and Kathy Shields had lunch at the Northern Quest Casino Monday and went to see “True Grit” at the Airway Heights Cinema.
Marilyn Joan Thompson lost her battle with cancer Jan. 7. She spent her childhood on the family farm in Lamont and was a graduate of Lamont High School. Marilyn enjoyed working for North County Ophthalmology in Poway, Calif., for more than 25 years where she made many friends. She is survived by her husband Robert, children (James, Michael and Laura), grandchildren, sister Sherrill (Don) Nelson, two brothers, Jim (Carol) and Wayne (Linda) Kelly as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was Jan. 15 and she was laid to rest in the Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Saturday, Marguerite Miller and Kathy Shields attended a memorial service for Marilyn Thompson in Spokane.
They then drove to north Spokane to a birthday party for Kathy’s three year old granddaughter, Grace Schultz. After a late lunch at the Old Country Buffet they visited Mabel Curtis-Nelson at Sullivan Park Assisted Living.
Saturday, Jan. 15, Dan and Jean Stromberger were guests at the home of Bill and Janet Stromberger in Edwall. The occasion was Jean’s 84th birthday.
Also attending were Tim and Arlene Stromberger, David Stromberger of Davenport, Tom Stromberger of Spokane and Nancy Stromberger Wecker of Boise. On Sunday, Jean was surprised on her birthday by a party attended by Bill and Janet Stromberger, Aaron and Sarah Stromberger of Spokane, Brendan and Lana Stromberger of Pullman and Nancy Wecker of Boise.
