Erin Schuster yanks down a rebound from Pomeroy's Kinsey Bott in Friday's battle for the SE girls' number-two slot behind the runaway Colton team. Sami Bailey is a right for the Eagles.
St. John/Endicott and Pomeroy girls, both with one loss in the SE race, collided Friday in the Eagles’ gym for a lone claim on the league’s number-two slot. The Eagles, who again launched a sharp shooting attack, won going away with a 54-38 decision.
The Pirates faced the second half of a tough weekend when they hosted league leading Colton Saturday and sustained a 42-67 defeat from the Wildcats to start the second round of league action.

Colton Friday hosted the Garfield/Palouse Vikings and hammered out a 51-12 lead with Mollie Kramer hitting 14 and pulling down eight rebounds. The Wildcats’ defense actually held the Vikes to just three points over the middle two quarters.
Saturday in the win at Pomeroy, the Wildcats busted out a 26-3 lead after the first quarter on the way to the 67-42 win. Haley Moser hit 14 and Kramer and Jena Moser each hit 13.
Colton’s girls Monday finished out their non-league season with a 72-16 thumping of a young Bulldog team at Genesee. The Wildcats shut out Genesee in the first quarter.
Friday, Gretchen Van Lith hit 22 points for the Eagles against the Pirates, and Alli Winters hit 20 with two three-point shots. The two Eagle scoring leaders hit 16-16 at the toss line in the last quarter when the Eagles staked a 10-point gap over the visitors.
St. John/Endicott added a padding to their number-two slot in the Saturday round with a 68-49 win over the Nighthawks at Oakesdale.
Van Lith hit another 25 points against the Nighthawks. The Eagles led 25-8 at the half and kept up a solid balance for the remainder of the game.
Nighthawk Alexandria Overton hit 27 against the Eagles to finish out another power weekend after she also hit 27 the previous night at Touchet.
Touchet, however, took a 68-64 win in overtime in the Friday round against the ‘hawks.
Rosalia girls booked two solid wins for the weekend with a 40-20 over the LaCrosse/Washtucna Tigercats at Rosalia Friday and a 46-29 over Touchet on the road Saturday. Briann Maley hit 20 points at Touchet and 18 on the home court against the T-cats Friday night.
The pair of wins moved the Spartans into a tie with Pomeroy for the league’s number-three slot. That will be resolved when they travel to Pomeroy Friday for a second-round clash.
Garfield/Palouse, crushed by the Wildcats in the Friday round, defeated LaCrosse/Washtucna 47-23 at Palouse Saturday to book a split for the weekend. Freshman Taylor Redman led the Vikings with 18, and Madisyn Woltering hit 12.
Tuesday in non-league action, the Nighthawks clubbed Potlatch 65-20 with Overton hitting another 27 points. Lakeside of Plummer posted a strong second half on their home court for a 51-43 win.
Touchet fell to Liberty Christian 62-26 in the other non-league round Tuesday.
