Colfax Bulldog wrestler Cody Evans placed third in the 16-team tournament at Orofino Saturday. Evans defeated Todd Marshall of Potlatch with an 8-1 decision in the consolation final at the tournament. The clash was a rematch of the consolation final at Pomeroy during the holiday break
Evans lost to Jake Witherspoon of Elgin, Ore., in the semi-final round. Witherspoon was stopped by Carsen Fry of Lewiston in the champion match for the 125 class.
Evans pinned Marshall in the second round and decisioned Broncheau of Orofino 17-3 in the prelim round.
Kevin Nellis lost 7-17 to Dustin Winter of Clarkston and was pinned in the second round by Lawrence Dana
Evan Lord in the 215 class pinned Austin Kasper of Lewiston and lost by pins to Quinn Lyndsey of Moscow and Erich Roepke of Enterprise, Ore. In Friday action Lord pinned Cain Sellings of IMB and was pinned by Derrick Pruitt of Elgin. Nellis pinned Ben Madsen of Elgin and was pinned by Dana.
Evans did not wrestle Friday because of match limits.
The Bulldogs were slated to travel to Wilbur tonight for a league matchup. They will compete in the Clearwater Classic at Lewiston over the weekend.
