‘The Diary of Anne Frank’ begins run at Regional Theater

Regional Theatre of the Palouse will present “The Diary of Anne Frank,” Feb. 10-12 and 17-19 with a cast of actors from Moscow and Pullman. Artistic Director John Rich said Regional Theatre of the Palouse is honored to bring this very important play to the area and they hope it educates many people in the process. RTOP is very grateful to have financial support from the Schreck Family Foundation and a TriState Community Grant to help underwrite the production.

The Frank family moved from Germany to Amsterdam in 1933 after the Nazis took over Germany. They became trapped in Amsterdam when the Nazis occupied the Netherlands. The family, along with others, hid in a room in Otto Frank’s office building. After two years they were betrayed and taken to concentration camps. Anne Frank and her sister, Margot, were transferred to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp where they died of typhus in March 1945.

Otto Frank, the sole survivor of the family, came back to Amsterdam to find Anne’s diary had been saved. His efforts helped publish the diary in 1947.

All night shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Matinées Feb. 12 and Feb. 19 begin at 2:30 p.m. A guest panel will join RTOP after the Feb. 12 production for a discussion group.

Ticket prices are $15 for adults in advance or $17 at the door, and children under 12 are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Tickets can be purchased by calling the RTOP Box Office at (509) 334-0750.
