Library plans session on web downloading

Next Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m., Colfax library staffer Matt Roach will demonstrate methods of accessing and downloading from the library’s online collections. Matt will assist participants in learning if their e-reader device is compatible with the library’s downloadable products.

For those interested in purchasing an e-reader, he will help with a list of hundreds of devices that work with library products.

Participants are encouraged to bring their wireless laptop computers, playing devices and questions.

Over the past few months, the library has received hundreds of calls and questions about finding, accessing and downloading digital records. The library currently offers two choices for digital downloads from its website. Cardholders can access either NetLibrary or Overdrive from library’s homepage:

http://www.whitco.lib.wa.us.

In addition, the Overdrive collection is available directly from the library’s catalog. Records of these items will show up as “electronic resources.” For more information about this program contact the library.

Author Mullen donates books for library

Martha Mullen of Pullman presents copies of her book, Reflections On the Road, to Whitman Library staffer Andrea Hergert. The book is now available at all 14 branch locations of Whitman County Library thanks to a donation from the author. Mullen spent 2.5 years traveling 658 roads and thousands of miles gathering stories of the people, the celebrations, and the details of Whitman County. Copies of her book are also available for purchase from Main Street Books in Colfax, Neill’s Flowers and the Pullman Chamber of Commerce office.
