Keith Danielson wins ‘extreme cowboy’ race

Keith and Carla Danielson were in Ridgefield Feb. 18-21 where Keith competed in the Craig Cameron Extreme Cowboy Race. Keith and his Hooper Crossing horse, Chilipepper Fox, came home with the Championship buckle for the event.

World famous clinician Craig Cameron hosted the competition which consisted of 12 riders running a preliminary obstacle course on Friday and Saturday. The top six riders then competed in the final competition Sunday. Keith and Chili scored a 108 out of a possible perfect score of 120 to win the event.

The Danielsons were joined by their son-in-law and daughter, Tim and Erin Mock and granddaughters from Vancouver, along with Carla’s sister and brother-in-law, Marti and Neil Natwick of Washougal.

Conly and Betty Merritt traveled to Yreka, Calif., Feb. 17 to return Betty’s mother, Eleanor Iten home. She had been staying with them for the winter. The Merritts returned home safely Monday, Feb. 21.
