Raymond M. Packard
Raymond M. Packard, 81, Harvard, died March 1, 2011, at his home from an apparent heart attack. He has been cremated and a service will not be conducted in accordance with his request.
Born Aug. 27, 1929, at Potlatch, to Fred and Rose Martin Packard, he attended Potlatch schools and graduated from Potlatch High School in 1948. He married Idabelle Thomas June 16, 1950, at Potlatch, and they made their home at Potlatch. Mr. Packard was employed at Potlatch Forests, Inc., as a saw filer for 15 years.
In 1966 they moved to Tillamook, Ore., where he worked in a mill until they moved to Ketchikan, where he also worked at a mill. In 1974 they moved back to the Princeton – Harvard area where Mr. Packard worked for Bennett Lumber at Princeton and for Edwards saw mill as a saw filer until he retired in 1994. Mrs. Packard died in January of this year.
Survivors include one son Leslie (Diana) Packard, Walla Walla; two daughters, Renee (Marty) Hanson, Post Falls; Diana (Bob) Lee, Nehalem, Ore .; two sisters; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mary K. Bohara
A service for Mary K. Bohara, 85, will be Friday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at the Tekoa Community Church in Tekoa. A private family burial will follow at the Pines Cemetery in Spokane Valley.
Mrs. Bohara died Sunday morning, March 6, 2011, at her Spokane Valley home.
Born Aug. 14, 1925, at Tekoa, to John A. and Anna K. Wallner Kessinger, she attended schools in Tekoa and graduated from Tekoa High School with the class of 1943. She then worked as a bank teller in Tekoa for the next five years.
Mary married William (Bill) Bohara Nov. 16, 1949, at Missoula, Mont. The couple farmed near Tekoa until retiring in 1992 and moving to Spokane Valley. Mr. Bohara died in March of 2003. She continued to make her home in Spokane Valley.
She was a member of the Tekoa Float Committee during the 1970s when daughter Julie was a member of the Tekoa Royalty. She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in local school activities.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (K-Dianne) Bohara, Chanhassen, Minn. and Dave (Sharon) Bohara, Tekoa; two daughters, Becky Harris, Nokomis, Fla., and Julie Smith, Troy, Idaho; a sister, Agnes Clem, Tekoa; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Nelson.

Jack McCullough
Maynard (Jack) McCullough, 94, a longtime resident of Hay, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 at Nelson’s Corner Assisted Living Center in Colfax. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Selbu Lutheran Church in LaCrosse.
A teacher and principal at Hay before that school was consolidated with LaCrosse, Mr. McCullough served as the last Whitman County School superintendent before the state converted to the present Educational Service District format. Mr. McCullough continued to make his home at Hay until he moved to the assisted living home in Colfax several months ago.
Mr. McCullough’s wife, Lillian, died Dec. 17, 2009. They had no children. A full obituary will follow at a later date.
James H. Carter
James H. Carter, 74, former resident of Potlatch, died early Wednesday morning, March 2, 2011, at the Juniper Meadows Care Center in Lewiston where he has been a resident for the past three years.
He has been cremated and his ashes will be buried in the Moscow Cemetery at a later date. A service will not be conducted.
Born Jan. 18, 1937, at Moscow, to Charles and Delma Carlson Carter, he attended schools at Potlatch and worked as a bartender and waiter at the Carter’s Log Inn for several years. He never married.
Mr. Carter moved to the Clark House in Moscow in 2005.
Surviving are a brother, Charles (Carol) Carter Jr., Moscow.
