Fourteen Colfax juniors to compete for DYW title

Colfax Distinguished Young Women program, formerly Junior Miss, will be at the CHS auditorium March 26 at 7 p.m. Theme for this year will be “A Night at the Movies.” Tickets are $8. VIP tickets are $9 and include water and popcorn.

Entrants, billed this year as “stars” for the movies format, will compete according to their drawn order of performance.

Star #1 is Samantha Pearson, daughter of John and Debbie Pearson. She will sing “One Last Breath” by Creed for her talent.

Star #2 is Natasha Nellis, daughter of Ed and Amy Nellis. She will play the flute to the love theme from the Titanic titled “My Heart Will Go On.”

Star #3 is Morgan Willson, daughter of Craig Willson and Lisa and Jim Retzer. She will sing Carrie Underwood’s “Temporary Home” for her talent.

Star #4 is Kelsey Nails, daughter of David and Lori Nails. She will sing Little Mermaid’s “A Part of Your World.”

Star #5 is Elizabeth Hatley, daughter of Gary and Sheri Hatley. She will sing and play the guitar to Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours.”

Star #6 is Amanda Unger, daughter of Ty and Chris Unger. She will perform a personal monologue about her fond memories of living in Hawaii.

Star #7 is Megan Groom, daughter of Milt and Karen Groom. She will play the trumpet to Jungle Book’s “The Bare Necessities.”

Star #8 is Abby Muir, daughter of Keith and Christie Muir. She will perform an original choreographed dance to “Party in the USA.”

Star #9 is Abby Thayer, daughter of Trist and Carlene Thayer. She will perform a cheer dance to “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz.

Star #10 is Hayley Hahn, daughter of Jake and Mary Hahn. She will recite an inspirational monologue “I Wish...”

Star #11 is Kaysha Lyman, daughter of David and Benay Lyman. She will play a song on the flute titled “In the Arms of an Angel” by Sara McLauchlan.

Star #12 is Erin Cox, daughter of Gary and Rachel Cox. She will sing Taylor Swift’s “Back to December.”

Star #13 is Jherilynne Wride, daughter of Larry and Rhonda Wride. She will perform a monologue “Edith Anne” by Lily Tomlin.

Star #14 is Misty Skelton, daughter of Bill and Carol Skelton. She will perform a Hip Hop dance to “Club Can’t Handle Me” by Flo Rida.
