The Lamont Community Church had its annual business reports after a potluck dinner on Sunday. After the reports were given a business meeting was conducted. During church, Thomas Nu and Jean Stromberger played a duet on the piano that was appreciated by the congregation.
Reardan High School girls’ basketball team coached by Ed Shields of Lamont won the state 2B girls basketball championship on March 5 at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
Carolyn Behrens was a Saturday luncheon guest at the home of Bill and Stella Melville.
Clancy Pool of St. John and her daughter and husband, Beth and Aaron Grider and baby son, Gabriel, of Spokane Valley were Saturday afternoon visitors at the home of Bill and Stella Melville. Gabriel was born on Stella’s birthday, Oct. 25, 2010.
Kathy Shields hosted pinochle club Monday evening. Those present were Nita Polda, Shirley Miller, Anita Frederick, Nita Vold, Claudette Sharp, and guests Beth Ann Engles and Tammy Miller. Shirley won high, Claudette low and Anita the galloper.
Students from Sprague-Lamont school participated in the competition at Liberty on Thursday. The following awards were won by students that entered the competition: Tommie Sue Swannack, second place in Persuasive Speech in the sixth grade; Tracy Melville, fifth place in the eighth grade in Math; Alex Wheeler, sixth place, Interpretive Speech in the eighth grade; Rosie Melville, fourth place in Spelling in the fifth grade; Wade Sweetland, fourth place in Spelling in the third grade.
