Former Alaskans mark golden date

Darrell and Judy Gumm Bowersox of Post Falls celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 19 with a buffet dinner for family and friends at Red Lion Templin’s in Post Falls.

Bowersox and Judy Gumm were married March 18, 1961, at the Community Methodist Church in Farmington.

The church building was originally a schoolhouse at Seltice where her parents, Harry and Esther Gumm, attended grade school.

They lived in Kennewick for a year and then moved to Anchorage where both worked in data processing for 17 years.

He worked for the City of Anchorage, National Bank of Alaska and Kodiak Oilfield Haulers, a North Slope service company.

She was employed with the Anchorage School District and the Municipality of Anchorage.

In August of 1979 they moved to Talkeetna, a small town 100 miles north of Anchorage where they operated a parts store for 17 years. They sold the business in 2004 and moved to Post Falls in 2009 to be closer to family and friends.
