Seniors Teade, McNannay pitch wins at Broncoville

Colfax senior pitchers Alex Teade and Tyler McNannay both bagged wins Tuesday when the Bulldogs traveled to Ritzville for a double bill. The outing marked the end of a 12-day rain lag in the Colfax baseball schedule since Colfax booked their first game at Asotin.

Colfax booked a 15-2 in the first game Tuesday at Ritzville and an 8-2 win in the second game, a one-hitter hurled by McNannay.

In the opener, the Bulldogs booked 15 hits with a nine-run explosion in the last innings. Teade allowed eight walks and fanned nine Broncos in taking the win.

Ritzville scored a run in each of the first two innings, but their run production stopped after that.

“Once Teade hit a groove, he pitched a pretty tough game,” Coach Mike Parrish said.

In the big Colfax charge in the last inning, the Bulldogs scored eight hits with McNannay, Kellen Morgan and Patrick Jacobs each rapping a double. Morgan and JJ Robinson each had two RBIs in the charge.

The Broncos brought in two new pitchers in the seventh.

The inning started with Brady Ellis hitting a single and Brandon Heiser getting hit by a pitch to get on base in front of McNannay’s double. Robinson and Teade then singled in front of Morgan’s double. Jacobs, Conner Appel and Heiser then closed out the hit barrage and the Broncos committed two errors.

Colfax started with three runs in the first inning with Brady Ellis tagging a single, Heiser a double and McNannay a single.

Robinson and Teade doubled to add a run in the fourth inning and McNannay doubled, Robinson singled and Morgan hit to a fielders’ choice to score two more in the fifth.

In the second game, McNannay fanned 13 Broncos while pitching the one hitter. He walked just five Broncs and hit one.

Colfax took a 3-0 lead in the first with Ellis and McNannay each tagging a single and Robinson drawing a walk. Two of the runners walked in for a 3-0 lead.

Colfax augmented the gap with five in the fifth with four hits, a hit batter and another fielders choice on a rap by Morgan.

Matt St. Mary doubled for two RBIs.

The Broncos scored their two runs in the fifth off a Colfax error, a walk and the lone LR hit, a double by Traven Smith.

Next Colfax action will be a doubleheader Friday at Kettle Falls.

The Kettle crew had been booked to play here last Saturday, but that game was postponed a week. Field conditions at Colfax still were on the swampy side, so the Kettle date was changed again with the Bulldogs hitting the road Friday.

A game at Reardan was also scrubbed last Wednesday because of the wet weather. The date has now been set for April 13.
