Serving Whitman County since 1877
After a luncheon for 120 served by Lamplighter Deputies at the St. John Community Building, a reception honoring the station of Grand Esther Lorna Burns was at the St. John school, Saturday, April 2. The nearly 200 in attendance included 11 Past Grand Esthers.
The set from “Oklahoma” and decorations by Malden Chapter provided a background for the afternoon. Evan Jones entertained everyone with his solo from “Oklahoma”.
Worthy Matron Louise Belsby and Worthy Patron Greg Burns did the introductions, which included Worthy Grand Matron Linda Runyan, Worthy Grand Patron Dick Weigel, several Past Grand Matrons and Patrons, followed by the rest of the Grand Officers coming in wearing bunny ears and carrying large pocket watches a la “Alice in Wonderland”.
Following those introductions, WM Louise turned the meeting over to Lorna. With a welcome of “Howdy”, she carried out her part.
Family introductions followed that included her children and grandchildren, Jason and Krystal, Duncan, and Garrett Burns; Jodi and Doug, Taylor, and Kolby Stalter; Stacie and Rodger and Jade Lyman; Gavin and Billie Joe, and Alexis Burns, and brother-in-law Dennis.
Also attending were her sister Loretta and Roger Daniel, nieces and nephews; Kirsten Schweiger and Sharron and Brad Ruland of Spokane; Leonard and Stacie Aune of LaCrosse, Jessica Broemmeling of Clarkston, Jeremy and Shayla Daniel of Spokane and several great nieces and nephews.
Special friends attending were Pat Knutson of LaCrosse, Annie and Bill Donaldson of Coeur d’Alene Lake, Virginia Sanders of Colfax and Donna Camp of Spokane.
Responses were given by WGM Linda Runyan, WGP Dick Weigel, PGM Marjoe Richards, PGP J. Paul Fitzsimmons and the final mystery speaker, Grand Marshal Karen Whipple.
Lorna and Greg very much appreciate Louise Belsby, Marita Bothman, Gwelda Henning, Charlene Jacobs and Dorothy Bothman for all they did for this reception and for all they do for their chapter. The meeting wrapped up and refreshments prepared by Malden Chapter members.
