LaCrosse High ‘79 grads get surprise

A group of 1979 LaCrosse High School graduates had their annual mini-reunion at the Parsonage Bed and Breakfast this Saturday evening. Attending were Kristal Krom Kirpes, Paula Morris Meyer, both Pullman; Sheri Shaffer Hatley, Colfax; Doreen Broeckel Riedner, Genesee, and Denise Broeckel Kendall, Tacoma.

They were honorees at a surprise “milestone” birthday party at the Masonic Hall in LaCrosse. Attending that event were Kelly Kirpes, John and Kay Krom, Pullman; Shan Kelly, Colfax; Brent Meyer, Pullman; Roger Hagar, Oakesdale; Darlene Shaffer, LaCrosse; E.B. and Charlie Hatley, Colfax; Tom Riedner and Ruger, Genesee; Tony Kendall, Tacoma; Oscar Broeckel, Brian and Angela Broeckel, Graham BeDell, and Karen Broeckel, Dusty; Ron and Judy Birch (uncle and aunt of Doreen and Denise), Spokane; Cliff and Jeanette Nolan, Greg Nolan, Colfax; Joe and Wendy Schultz, Edwall; and Dean Wigen, LaCrosse.

Decorations were by Angela Broeckel. Julie Roberts was caterer.

Di Brink spent Saturday to Wednesday of last week in Las Vegas with her son Tom Phillips.

Tarri Steiger spent Mom’s Weekend at WSU with her son Stetson. Friday evening, Tarri, Stetson and Marguerite McInerny had dinner at the Hilltop Restaurant in Pullman. Stetson gave them a tour of his fraternity Saturday, and she attended brunch at the fraternity. They attended the WSU vs UCLA baseball game. Tarri and Duane’s daughter Geraldine is spending a couple of days with her parents this week.

Several locals attended the wedding reception at the Selbu Lutheran Church Sunday afternoon for Josh and Amy Bay Rettig. She is the daughter of Pastor Dennis and Marion Bay. The couple was married April 2 in McClure, Ohio, where they will reside.
