Easter program set at Lamont Community church

Lamont Church and Sunday School will present the Easter Program at the church Sunday, April 24 at 10 a.m.

The story of Easter will be told in music, a puppet show, a skit by the Junior Church group and a reading by members of the congregation.

Ed Dickerson from Norfolk, Va., visited his sister, Diane Cook, three days last week. He was in Portland repairing radios on Navy ships and he took time out to visit Diane. Ed travels all over the United States to Navy ports to do repair work.

Nancy Wecker from Meridian, Idaho, arrived at the home of her parents, Dan and Jean Stromberger for a four-day visit. Bill and Janet visited the Stromberger home on Friday evening and Tom, Tim and Arlene Stromberger came on Sunday afternoon.

Diane Cook, and her daughter, Sandi Miller, and her daughter, Kristen of Kahlotus, participated in the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure in Spokane. They reported about 9,000 people ran in the race to benefit breast cancer awareness. This was a 5 K race and they finished in one hour and twenty minutes.

Carl Harder is recuperating nicely since he returned from the Colfax Hospital after undergoing shoulder joint replacement. Nita Polda hosted pinochle club on Monday the 11th. Guests were Arletta Hoffman, Anita Frederick, Jo Lane Danielson, Nita Vold, Claudette Sharp, Shirley Miller and Betty Stone. Jo Lane won high, Arletta second and Anita Frederick the galloper.

The Little Red Hens red hat lmembers met in Spokane at Anthony’s Thursday for dinner and “The Sisters Rosensureig” at the Civic Theatre. The group included Bea Buler, Jackie Brown, Kay Dirks, Anita Frederick, Lottie Harding, Claudia Lowman, Jean Meyer, Shirley Miller, Nita Polda, Pat Peterson, Mary Kay Ruud, Kathy Shields, Betty Stone, Nita Vold, Marcia Landers and Claudette Sharp.

On Sunday, Mary Kay Ruud, Lottie Harding, Jackie Brown and Kathy Shields saw the movie “Arthur” at the Airway Heights Cinemas and then had dinner at Denny’s.

On Sunday Betty Stone, Patty and Sonny Ethredge, Debbie, Kevin and Megan Gaffney had dinner in Spokane at P.F. Changs, then on for dessert at the home of Carolyn and Harvey Behrens.

Don and Sherrill Nelson’s grandchildren, Kylie and Lilly Nelson of Spokane Valley, were Saturday overnight guests. They returned home Sunday evening with their parents Keith and Staci Nelson.
