Older American month

The theme of this year’s Older American month celebration will be “Older Americans: Connecting the Community,” according to Suzy McNeilly, Volunteer Coordinator and Training Specialist for the Council on Aging & Human Services.

The council offers many volunteer opportunities that provide services for seniors to improve health literacy, increase access to quality health services, deliver food and nutrition services, provide financial and housing counseling. They will honor Older Americans during the week of May 23 - 27 by providing special desserts at the Senior Meals Sites throughout Whitman County.

Whitman County Library in Colfax May 24 will host a “Mind Matters” workshop from noon to 1 p.m. This will be an interactive workshop designed to creative awareness of cognitive enhancement activities.
