James B. Lange, Blake W. Slocum, and Chad I. Redman are co-valedictorians of the Garifeld/Palouse High School class of 2011 after each earned a 4.0 grade average.
Ben J. Weagraff will be salutatorian of the class with a 3.98 grade average.
Lange, son of Frank and Patty Lange, is president of the class this year and president of the FFA chapter.
He also served in other class and FFA offices and played on Viking football, baseketball and baseball teams.
He earned a state FFA degree and was a Star Chapter Farmer and member of the FFA soils judging team that topped the west last year.
Lange plans to attend Linfield College and study business and economics.
Redman, son of Jim and Sue Redman, was National Honor Society president this year.
He competed on Viking basketball and track teams for four years and is a state competitor in the hurdle events.
He was also a member of Envirothon and Ag mechanics teams which too state honors.
He plans to attend Claremont-McKenna College where he will compete in track and study economic and engineering.
Slocum, son of Eric and Shelley Slocum, served as president of the student body this year and president of his class in his fresman and junior years.
He was a captain of the basketball and baseball teams.
He competed on Envirothon and Engineering Design teams and he competed for GP National Soils competiton at the National FFA competition in Oklahoma City.
He plans to major in business or construction management at Washington State University.
Weagraff, son of Philip and Penny Weagraff, played on GP football teams for four years and was a captain this year.
He was an FFA officer and participated in National FFA for four years and competed in a national talent competition in his junior year.
He plans to pursue a career as an actor and a musician.
