Farewell from the Womacks
By the time you read this, I will be the former CEO of Whitman Hospital. Julie and I are now preparing to move to start a new adventure in Bakersfield, Calif. I was not looking for a new position. This opportunity arose unexpectedly; it had the bonus of being in the same town with our daughter and her family.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to the entire community. You welcomed us with open arms and compassionately ministered to us during a very challenging time. Your love and concern touched us deeply. Now that we are moving, most have been very gracious and are wishing us well.
Julie tremendously enjoyed her work with the Chamber of Commerce, the Hospital Auxiliary, the United Methodist Women, and as a caregiver support group leader. It was my pleasure to work with a dedicated hospital Board of Commissioners, professional medical staff and caring hospital staff. I also enjoyed my association with Rotary and the stress release that came from bowling as a high-handicap-substitute in the Thursday Night league. We both drew inspiration, nourishment and strength from our church.
We hope you cherish your community. You have something very special here. We have found the community to be kind and friendly. Everyone has been very quick to lend a helping hand. Maybe this comes from the frontier legacy where neighbors relied on each other for survival. Maybe it is because everyone is just so darned nice. Whatever the reason, your local culture is remarkable Please do not lose it. This community will be forever in our prayers.

National hosptial, nurses week
This week marks both National Hospital Week, May 8 - 14, and the continuation of National Nurses’ Week, May 6 - 12. Whitman Hospital and Medical Center wants to recognize both and say a Big Thank You to all of our caregivers. The staff of WHMC provides the highest quality of care and always does it with a helping hand and kind touch.
Our theme for this week is “Champions of Care” which truly exemplifies the care provided throughout each and every department every day. The WHMC team members are exceptional champions!
This year’s Nurses’ week theme is “Nurses: Trusted to Care”. WHMC has 61 registered nurses practicing in a variety of settings from emergency department to the operating room to obstetrics. All of these professionals are committed to their profession and to making a difference each and every day.
