Three SE 2B qualifiers head for Colfax elims

Second round of the SE 2B baseball playoff will be at Colfax Saturday with the TOR Spartans booked in the number-two slot.

The Spartans finished their league run with two wins over Tri-Cities Prep on the Rosalia hill Saturday.

The pair of wins left TOR at 10-2 in the 2B standings.

DeSales, which split with Asotin Saturday, also finished at 10-2, but they get the top slot in the league because they bested TOR in a collision of the league leaders.

The 2B playoffs started Tuesday with Asotin shutting down Dayton 10-0.

They will face Liberty/Christian which eliminated Waitsburg/Prescott in the other first-round game Tuesday.

The Asotin -Liberty Christian game opens the action at Colfax Saturday at 10 a.m.

The loser will go up against TOR in the 1 p.m.

The Spartans Saturday dropped TCP 17-6 in a weather endurance contest on the Rosalia hill.

The Spartans pegged 11 hits.

The Jags, who finished without a league win, charged for five runs in the top of the fifth, but the game shut down after five.

Flash Hodges pitched the win with DJ Brown taking the mound in the fifth.

The second game also ended after five with a 13-2 Spartan win.

They had 15 hits in the second game with Brown tagging two homers.

The Irish split with Asotin Saturday at Walla Walla with the Panthers winning the first game 4-3, and the Irish taking the second game 11-10.

Playoffs for 1B will start with SJE and Colton getting the tickets.

The Eagles topped the league with an 8-0, and Colton finished at 6-2.

Colton Wednesday posted a 2-0 win over Garfield/Palouse in a battled at Garfield which totaled just seven hits.

Josh Straughan took the win on a three hitter, and Blake Slocum took the loss on a four hitter.

Friday, SJE was booked to play Wilbur/Creston in the first round at Curlew, but that site could be changed under a WIAA travel rule.

Colton is slated to face Odessa at Hartline Friday in the first game.
