Filing season opens for local candidates

Candidates can begin sending their official filings Friday for dozens of positions on various town councils, school boards and rural districts throughout Whitman County that will be up for election this fall.

Those wishing to throw their hats in the ring can mail candidacy filings to the county auditor’s office through 5 p.m. June 10.

In-person filing period will extend to June 6 through 5 p.m. An extended secondary filing period for offices that do not have any candidates file will run from June 13 through June 16.
