Craig W. Davis
A memorial service for Craig William Davis, 59, Potlatch, will be at 11 a.m., Friday, May 20, at the Church of the Nazarene in Princeton.
The Rev. Kathy Kramer will officiate.
A private inurnment will take place at Freeze Cemetery prior to the service.
A luncheon will follow the memorial at the Palouse River Community Center in Princeton.
Mr. Davis died unexpectedly from an aortic aneurysm May 14, 2011, at the family home.
Born May 23, 1951, in Pullman to R. Max and Dorothy Anderson Davis, he attended Potlatch school and graduated with the class of 1969.
He played football and basketball.
After graduation, he began working in the woods with various local companies including Vowels Logging and Hansen Logging.
He also spent time in Sitka and Juneau, Alaska, working for Larrabee Logging.
Upon returning from Alaska, he owned and operated TWT Trucking.
After many years on the road, he began driving logging truck for Denny Musick Trucking, later purchasing his truck and operating it until its retirement in the early 2000s.
During this time he also worked with his father and brothers in the woods.
He then went to work for Kyle Hawley Farms where he was employed at the time of his death.
Mr. Davies married Glenna Blair June 29, 1974.
They had one daughter, Steffani.
They were later divorced.
Craig married Crete Hodson April 6, 1990.
She survives him at the family home.
He enjoyed all types of history, jigsaw puzzles, camping and four-wheeling and reading.
Surviving are his wife, daughter Steffani (Shane) Anderson; brothers, Mark Davis and Tom Davis of Potlatch; sisters, Annelle Connaughton and Becky Kacmarsky of Tillamook, Ore., and three granddaughters.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, Box 63, Potlatch, 83855.
John L. Berner
A celebration of the life of John Louis Berner, 97, was Wednesday, May 18, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosalia.
Mass of Christian burial will be today, Thursday, May 19, 10 a.m.
at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Berner died May 14, 2011, in Colfax.
Born at the family homestead April 29, 1914, in St. Andrews to John and Maria Berner, he moved with his family to Garfield and attended Garfield schools.
He graduated from Garfield High School in 1934 and attended Washington State College in Pullman for three and a half years.
Following his father’s death, he returned to manage the family farm which was located near Rosalia.
He farmed from 1937 until his retirement in 1979.
He expressed amazement with the many changes in farming throughout these years, particularly with the increasing size of farms.
He was an active member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosalia until he moved to Colfax.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for numerous years.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, road trips to Oregon in the fall and long drives with his brother Gene.
“Uncle Louie” loved playing cards, board games, homemade meals, and many happy times at the Marie Dowling farm.
He was a strong man with a loving heart and steady, tender love toward his family.
A lifelong bachelor, he is survived by nieces and nephews Joanne Barrette (Jack) of Plattsburgh, N.Y .; Dianne Henrickson of Oakesdale; Pat Dowling (Heidi) of Steptoe; Mike Dowling (JoAnn) of Spokane; Dennis Dowling of Rosalia; Monica Schrader (Paul) of Rosalia, and Sharon Loring (Gene) of Albany, Or.
Survivors also include 13 great nieces and nephews.

Delma Willcox
A memorial service for Delma Elizabeth (DeYarmon) Willcox, 94, former resident of Palouse, will be in Palouse, Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Chapel at 2 P.M. with the Rev. Corey Laughary and Ray Reuf officiating. Mrs. Willcox died Dec. 12, 2010, at the Providence Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. Donations in her memory may be made to the Whitman County Library Foundation, 102 S. Main, Colfax, 99111.
