Wild week sees record highs, heavy rains

A record high temperature was recorded Saturday by the National Weather Service. The weather service gauge at the Pullman-Moscow Airport recorded a high of 81 degrees, which matches the previous record high set in 2006.

Saturday’s high temperatures gave way to heavy rains through Tuesday morning. The weather service reported 1.1 inches of rain fell at the airport between Sunday morning and Tuesday morning. The Hangman Creek gauge recorded .7 inches over the period.

Though river banks swelled with the rain, they did not approach flood stage. The North Fork Palouse River crested at 12.77 feet at the U.S. Geological Survey’s gauge near Potlatch Monday afternoon, well short of the 15 foot flood stage.
