Photographer John Clement and local historians Richard Scheuerman and Alex McGregor will present "Northwest Drylands, Seasons" in two county local sessions Saturday, May 21. Their first stop will be at 10 a.m. in the St. John Library followed by a second appearance at 2 p.m. in the Colfax Library. The trio recently collaborated on the book with Clements doing the photography, Scheuerman the text and McGregor the foreword.

Northwest Drylands features several dozen large-format color images of Inland Pacific Northwest landscapes including works that earned Clement induction into the National Photographers Hall of Fame. The book also includes a biographical essay on Clement's life written by Scheuerman and an interpretive introduction on his work by McGregor.

John Clement has won more than 55 national, regional and local awards for his pictorial and commercial work.

Clement has contributed to three books, Palouse Country: A Land and Its People, The Wenatchee Valley and Its Peoples and Finding Chief Kamiakin.

Scheuerman is an Endicott native who teaches and writes at Seattle Pacific University's Graduate School of Education and is a former teacher and administrator for the St. John-Endicott Schools. He is the author of several award-winning books including Renegade Tribe: The Palouse Indians and the Invasion of the Inland Pacific Northwest and other works on Northwest pioneers and immigrants.

McGregor is a businessman, scholar, writer and regional historian with a deep appreciation for the Palouse. His ancestors came to the Hooper area in 1882 and began raising sheep. As president of The McGregor Company, McGregor represents the third generation to conduct business on the Palouse.

McGregor wrote Counting Sheep which was named one of the state's most significant history titles by the Washington Centennial Commission. He has contributed forewords for Palouse Country and Northwest Drylands

Co-sponsors of these events will be the Friends of Whitman County Library and Main Street Books.
