Rosalia will “Turn Back Time” this weekend in celebration of its 42nd Battle Days celebration.
Battle Days begins Friday night when 21 seniors graduate in the school gymnasium.
Cub Scouts fuel Saturday’s action with a breakfast of hotcakes, eggs, ham and sausage in the firehouse beginning at 7 a.m.
Breakfasters can run off those extra calories with The Battle Days Fun Run, which takes off from the Texaco Visitor Station at 8 a.m.
Rosalia’s youth will assemble in front of the library at 9:30 for the 10 a.m. children’s parade.
This year’s parade will feature a number of old-timey harvest tributes with the Harvest Goes Back in Time theme.
At 10:20, Mayor Jim Stenhouse and Grand Marshals Bill and Alice Hoffman will welcome all and a blast of Rosalia’s replica of Steptoe’s cannon will launch the main parade.
The town’s sidewalks will be fair game to chalk artists at 11 a.m., with chalk set up in town for those struck with the spirit.
Cowboys, critters and dust will fly in the afternoon when the annual Bull Bash at the rodeo grounds begins at 2 p.m.
Rosalia favorite Kathleen Paris will take the stage in the Performing Arts Center at 2 p.m. to perform her renditions of Patsy Cline hits. Also performing will be Cowboy Copus, a tribute act to old-time range songs.
The Rosalia Royalty will host a family dance at the Old Lumber Yard building on S. Whitman street at 7 p.m.
Rosalia’s finest literary talent will be at Pat’s Books throughout the day to sign new and old releases for their fans.
Childrens’ author Marcy Campbell will release her second book in the Rosie the Rat series with “Rosie’s Travel Tale.”
Along with the books will be dolls of Rosalia’s most famous rodent, made by Della Hill. The post office will also unveil a red door marking Rosie’s home.
Pine City author Jean Flanigen will release “The Zhombie Confirmation,” the third book in her zhombie series.
Flanigen is also releasing “Jeb’s Story,” a historical fiction novel about a Revolutionary War soldier who finds a secret portal to 2010.
Wanda Sheahan will be on hand to sign copies of her book “Don’t Cry Over Spilt Milk.”
The John Wayne Trail Riders are scheduled to hit Malden for a trail-style cookout breakfast at the Malden Community Church Thursday and Friday.
Throughout the day, vendors will sell their crafts downtown, and the Garden Club will hold a plant sale next to the library.
The annual show of Rosalia student and local artists will be featured in the Budding Rose Art Gallery.
Tours will be offered throughout the day at the museum in City Hall and the Texaco Station.
Events wrap Sunday, with a community worship service at 10:30 a.m. in the school gym, and a Jack & Jill Softball Tournament at the city park at 1 p.m.
Spokane’s Kinderchor, featuring Colin Pittman of Rosalia, will perform at the Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday.
