Word on the street

A record number of Americans have died in tornadoes this year than in any other year. A funnel cloud was reported this weekend near Johnson. Have you ever been in a tornado?

"Kind of. I was working at Eastern and they had the state track meet. We all had to evacuate. It did touch down in, like, Turnbull, but not at the stadium."

"No, not really. Actually, last September we were back in Florida. We were in Tampa, and late one night we heard there was a tornado warning. But it wasn't where we were staying. It was a little bit further north."

"I never saw a tornado, but I grew up in Nebraska and the midwest and we had tons of warnings. It's really eerie. It gets totally dark and gray and the hair will stand up on your arms because everything is so perfectly still."

"No. Why would I live in a place where there was tornados? There's disasters every where but here. I wouldn't live anywhere but the Pacific Northwest."
