Diane Cook accompanied Thomas Wu from China, Miguel Pineda from Spain, and Carmen Swannack to Spokane, Sunday afternoon to do some shopping.
The two boys will return to their respective homes in the middle of June after living with the Art and Jill Swannack family as exchange students for one year. The boys attended St. John High School where Thomas will graduate and Miguel was a sophomore.
Diane and Allan Cook drove to Kahlotus last Friday to attend eighth grade/high school graduation. Logan Miller, grandson of the Cooks, was a member of the class. They were overnight guests of Logan’s family. On Saturday, they drove to Kennewick to visit with friends, Jack and Louise Armstrong, before returning to Lamont Saturday evening.
Arlene Stromberger stopped to visit Dan and Jean Stromberger Sunday afternoon on her way home after seeing her mother, Lorraine Shawgo, at her home in Ewan.
Kathy Shields, Betty Stone and Jackie Brown attended the Best of Broadway performance of “Wicked” at the INB performing Arts Center in Spokane on Friday evening.
Chris Shields sustained a neck inury during a ATV trip while camping at Priest Lake on Saturday. He was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center. His is now recovering with a neck brace at the Shields ranch. Monday visitors were Jenny, Michael and Lea Shields, Jessy Allen, Tyler King, Nicky and Liam Talkington.
Betty Stone attended a birthday party Sunday at the home of Carolyn and Harvy Behrens. Betty’s grandson, Ross Behrens, was the honored guest.
Nita and Matt Polda’s Sunday luncheon guests were Myrna and Frank Rehn, their daughter Heidi and her friend and Con Allen and Janet Lamparter, all from Spokane.
David and Sarah Polda of Mount Vernon recently spent three days with Nita and Matt Polda. Nita returned home with them and then went on to Vancouver, BC, to spend five days with her daughter and husband, Kris Ann and Rick Bulcraft and their daughter Anastasia.
Stella Melville, Betty Stone and Kathy Shields attended a bridal shower honoring Mary Ringwood Saturday at Perkins Downtown, hosted by Norine Gregory and Karen Ringwood.
Stephanie Swannack accepted a position with her company, Catatina Marketing, at their European headquarters in Paris and moved to Paris April 25. She will be working with the Dutch and French marketing their products.
Ann Swannack May 6 traveled to Arlington to spend a few days with her mother, Dorothy Sturgeon. After enjoying a Mother’s Day brunch at Olympic Place in Arlington, Ann flew from Seattle to Paris, France, where she spent 10 days visiting daughter Stephanie.
Ann quickly learned the Metro underground rail system with 13 lines and more than 280 stations. It provided safe, quick transport all over the city. She visited parks, monuments, neighborhoods, Nation Maritime Museum, Eiffel Tower and took several “Paris Walks” English tours. Stephanie joined her for Versailles, Orsay Museum, Rodin Museum and the American Church of Paris.
