The Colfax Library kicks off Summer Reading with Matt Baker’s Comedy and Stunt Show Friday, June 17, at 6 p.m. in the library’s meeting room. Voted as Seattle’s funniest prop comic, Matt makes people laugh by doing things like spearing vegetables in mid air and juggling with his mouth.
Magician Jeff Evans will lead an imaginary journey to unique destinations at the Colfax Library next Thursday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m. Topics will include baking a pizza in Italy, making water disappear in Egypt, or crafting magical origami in Japan.
Thanks to support from the Friends of the Library and local merchants, libraries countywide are offering lots of incentives for adult and teens to read this summer. These include everything from free coffee certificates, i-tunes cards and gift baskets to admission to Palouse Empire Fair, St. John Sprint Boat and Silverwood. Younger readers will receive prize bags filled with pizza certificates and other surprises.

Summer reading signups for youngsters or completion forms for teens and adults can be accessed from the library’s website, by calling the library or stopping in at any branch.
The library has just added 378 new audio books to its downloadable NetLibrary collection.

Final session of Thursday Storytime will be today, June 16 in the meeting room with baby time for ages 0-2 years from 10:10-10:30, toddler time for ages 2-3 from 10:30-11:00 and preschool time for ages 4 and up from 11:11:30.
Facebook beginners, or those interested in joining Facebook, can get hands-on assistance at a free workshop presented by Whitman County Library in Colfax June 22 at 6 p.m. The session will provide information on creating an account, posting messages, finding friends and privacy protection . This workshop will offer an opportunity for participants to set up an account and practice using Facebook with assistance from an experienced user.
This session is first-come, first-serve as space and computer stations are limited. Wireless capability is available for those with their own laptop computers. For more information, program call Andrea Hergert at the library.
