School retirees collect 'happy trails' farewells

The faculty, staff, and school board had a “happy trails” farewell party for employees who are leaving. A potluck salad bar and cake was served.

Marion Bay received the “Jackson Pollock Award” for being able to make a mess into art. She is retiring and moving to the coast. Kelli Broeckel received the “Best Hairdo Award.” She is moving to the Garfield area. Monica Dainty received a certificate thanking her for “Getting checks out to everyone each month.” She is moving to the Moses Lake area. Ernie Kimball received the “Old Codger” award. He is retiring from teaching but will continue to farm in Pomeroy. Fran Powers received an award that thanked her for always being able to find her keys. She will be working in Pullman.

Gary Wargo - every year Gary shares his time and resources to plant flower pots for Main Street.

LaCrosse Community Outreach will meet today, Thursday, at 4:30 at the TeaPot. They are finalizing plans for their all you can eat breakfast at Farm Fest. The breakfast is on Saturday, June 18, also at the TeaPot, 8 to 10:30 a.m. Admission will be $7 for adults and $5 for children. Wayne Miller, Food Bank Manager, reported 40 families were helped in June. The Food Bank is now open two days a month, the second Tuesday and the fourth Thursday, 9 to 4 both days. Call Wayne in an emergency.

Judy and Jesse Van Schoiak, Richland, visited at the home of her parents, Lois and Chuck Olmstead, Sunday. Accompanying them was their daughter, Amber Hornsfeldt, and their grandson and the Olmsteads great grandson, Brody, Vancouver.

Mudfest is looking for local participants and spectators for Saturday, June 18. The cook shack will be available for a good old fashioned hamburger with all the trimmings. All proceeds benefit the Richard L Roberts Scholarship which is awarded to a senior based on community service. This year’s recipient was Chris Wargo.
