WSU extension taps Neibers for RM post

Shannon Neibergs of Palouse has been named director of the WSU Extension Western Center for Risk Management starting July 5. He succeeds Jon Newkirk who has directed the center for the past 10 years.

Neibergs is a WSU associate professor and extension economist at WSU. He had conducted research and published widely on dairy farming, cattle management and marketing and agribusiness profitability and other topics. Neibergs earned his doctorate in ag economics from Texas A & M University after earning a masters degree in economics and a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Washington State University.

Dan Bernardo, WSU dean of agricultural, human and natural resource sciences, praised Newkirk for helping set a new course for the center by embracing 21st century technology and communications strategies.
