Dick and Helen Appel, with Caroline, Zack, Kade, Elly and Lucien Kunkel, Pullman, accompanied Phil Appel, Spokane, and Sabrina Appel, Salem, on an excursion to Emerald Creek in Idaho to dig garnets. Sabrina spent several days with her grandparents. While here, she helped her grandparents and was instructed in sewing a blouse and jacket by Grandma Helen. Neil, Josh, Emmie and Isaac Appel, Dusty, and Lisa, Travis, Miriam, Rachel and Emma Frei spent Sunday with Dick and Helen Appel swimming.

Retired long-time Dusty area farmer Dick Stueckle, died last Saturday. Graveside services will be at the Dusty Cemetery at 4 p.m. Friday and his funeral will be at the Nazarene Church in Colfax at 6 p.m. He is survived by his wife Greta, daughter Jodie, two sons, Kirt and Shane, grandchildren and his brother, Marcus Stueckle.

Pataha Flour Mill in Pomeroy will have its annual “Hometown Revival” Gospel Sing Sunday, Aug. 28 at 3 p.m.

Jeannie and Marc Grenier of Bradenton, Fla., recently visited with Warren and Connie Horton, Horton and watched harvesting.

Linda Hennigar was soloist for the Ryan Dorman - Danielle Olsem wedding at the Selbu Church Saturday afternoon. Vicki Broeckel did the decorating. A reception followed at Banyan’s On The Ridge at the Pullman golf course.

David and Phyllis Stueckle were in Portland from last Wednesday to Friday. They stayed with their daughter and family, Karen and Larry Light and children, viewed their prolific vegetable gardens, picked up some blueberries from a farm they have patronized for years, toured the Pittock Mansion on Thursday and returned home Friday.

Lucky and Joan Myrick hosted a family gathering at their place a couple of weekends ago.

Attendees included the Brink family, Larry, Di, Tom, John and Brandi, Kevin and Amber and children, and Mike Stine, Rich and Janetta Myrick, Moses Lake, Rich’s kids, Cherie, Deanna, and Cameron of Spanaway, Rob and Robbie Myrick and Dusty, Spokane; nephew Robert Myrick and sons Robbie and Keenen of Everett, niece Tina Myrick and son Skyler and Skyler’s daughter Brooklyn, and Camille Patterson of Spokane.

The Myrick’s all went to the river on Sunday where the kids enjoyed swimming.

They also had a surprise visit from Bill Floyd and his niece Phyllis on Tuesday.

Bill was married to Pearl Brink and Phyllis is the daughter of Helene Brink, both daughters of Hiram Brink.

Tom, Julie and Tommy Kyllo, Vienna, Va., arrived for a week’s stay with his mother Carol Kyllo to help wrap up the packing before the sale of the Kyllo farm. Grandchildren Lauren and Logan Haas, Spokane, also have been helping. Tami and Lexi Haas arrived on the farm Tuesday and Tim and Penny Kyllo, Naples, Idaho, arrived Thursday.

Denise Kendall, Tacoma, returned to her home Saturday after driving grain truck for Brian Broeckel, et.al. Harvest operations. Doreen Riedner, Genesee, also a grain truck driver, returned home Sunday. Harvest operations were completed Saturday afternoon.
