Whitman County residents are invited to the Grand Opening celebration of the Forever Free Lincoln Exhibit at the Colfax Branch Library on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. A ribbon cutting ceremony with dignitaries is set for 3:45 p.m., a fun pre-school program called “Born in a Log Cabin” is at 1 p.m. and yummy all-American refreshments will be served all day.

September is the American Library Association’s “Library Card Sign Up Month.” Everyone signing up for a Whitman County Library card is entered into a drawing for one of two certificates from the Friends of the Library to be used at a local business of their choice. Play and Learn Play Group resumes Friday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Colfax Library. This free play group is open to infants, toddlers, young children and those who care for them.

Storytime resumes Thursday, Sept. 8, with Baby time programs at 10:10 a.m., Toddler Time at 10:30 a.m. and Preschool Time at 11:00 a.m. Join Sheri and Nichole for fun stories, finger plays, rhymes, songs & more.

Visit Whitman County Library at the Palouse Empire Fair Sept. 8 - 11 as Friends of WCL present a dynamic Rural Heritage exhibit along with the ever-popular spinning wheel of prizes free for all children to spin and win!

All branches of Whitman County Library will close September 3-5 in observance of Labor Day Weekend. Many services will still be available through the library’s website including downloadable audiobooks, ebooks, requests and renewal and 24/7 online librarian.
