Mayan salad recipe wins $1,000 lentil fest prize against 118 contestants

The National Lentil Festival announced the winners of the 2011 National Lentil Festival Legendary Lentil Cook Off August 20 during the festival. The winner Magical Mayan Salad submitted by Jane Bacher of Robertsdale, Ala., and, thanks to sponsorship from the USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council, she will receive a prize of $1,000, according to Vicki Leeper, director of tourism & special events for the Pullman Chamber of Commerce.
