Colfax volleyball players took a second straight defeat Tuesday when they went to Lakeside and bowed out in three straight games. Line score in the match with the Eagles, a one-time foe when both schools were in the NE-A, was 25-15 25-22 and 25-21.
Colfax last Thursday in their Dig Pink night matchup took Pullman into a fifth game before bowing to the ‘hounds. The five-game match was an improvement over the jamboree five days earlier.
“The Pullman match marked a big improvement for us, but tonight was a setback,” Coach Sue Doering said after returning from the trip to Lakeside Tuesday night.
She added both sides stacked a bunch of mistakes in the match at Lakeside.
Last Thursday both teams, Colfax band members and fans wore pink in the observance, and Coach Doering, a breast cancer survivor, gave a short appreciation talk before the start of varsity action.
Sparked by a serving run from Camille Davis, Pullman posted a big lead and booked a 15-6 win in the fifth game decider to take the match.
The match went into the fifth after Colfax battled to a 28-26 endurance win in the first game, dropped the next two games before taking a 25-16 win in the fourth game when Pullman’s offense went off the track.
That locked it at 2-2 and send it into the short fifth game. Davis locked it in for Pullman with a 6-0 run, including an ace on point number five.
