Frederick N. Downey, 61, Pullman, suspect in a series of “smash and grab” burglaries in Pullman last fall and winter, pleaded guilty Friday in superior court to an amended charge of attempted second degree burglary. A sentencing date was scheduled for Sept. 23.
Downey originally faced six charges with a burglary at the Professional Mall and attempted break-in at the Pufferbelly Depot office Jan. 18. He faces a sentencing range of between 22.5 to 67 months. Prosecutor Denis Tracy said he plans to recommend a sentence at the high end.
