Reading, Writing and getting their kicks

Garfield-Palouse Middle School students took a study field trip to the Palouse River at Elberton last week. Teacher Phil Weagraff’s seventh grade students collected macroinvertebrates to evaluate the pollution index of the river. The eighth grade class took samples of the water and conducted several different water quality tests. The field trip is part of the school’s ongoing field study of the environmental conditions of the Palouse River. Each year, the middle school students compare data they collect with information gained from prior classes.
