Serving Whitman County since 1877
Garfield-Palouse Middle Schoolers got back into school with their first Spirit Week of the year, including daily dress-up competitions and a pep rally for the football and girls’ basketball teams.
Homeroom winners were chosen daily based on each day’s theme: school colors, nerd day, crazy hat/hair day, twins day and pajama day.
Winners, plus all students who dressed up for all five competitions, received ice cream sundaes.
The pep rally, directed by ASB President Riley Marcus and Vice President Kent Nelson, introduced the ASB, the 2011 Raider Football team coached by Bob Wolf and Ron Redman, and the Raider Girls’ Basketball team coached by Jeremy Kimble and John Cole.
The assembly concluded with a spirited gathering of each of the three Viking tribes - Norse, Swedes and Danes - each composed of mixed sixth, seventh and eighth grade student teams who are competing for prizes throughout the year for points earned for academics, athletics, activities, awards and citizenship.
