Teachers will converge at Lincoln Middle School

Teachers from all over the county will converge at Pullman at Lincoln Middle School Friday to participate in a professional development day.

Keynote speakers will be Janel Keating, principal of Mountain Meadow Elementary School in the White River district at Buckley, and Dr. Robert Eaker, former executive vice president and provost at Middle Tennessee State University.

Keating's school at Buckley had developed into one of the highest academically performing schools in the state. Eaker has co-authored books on student achievement and professional learning communities.

Teachers are allowed time to compare their best practices and innovations in their classrooms.

Washington State Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development in 2010 presented the Whitman County Principals' Association with a recognition award for starting the development day program which has grown into the Whitman County Partnership.

Schools will be dismissed Friday for teachers to attend the development day.
