After dominating two NE foes in league play this week, the Colfax Bulldogs will travel to Rogers High in Spokane Friday to mix it up with teams from big schools in the Spokane Crossover tournament. The big Spokane net show involves 64 teams with most of the guests from big schools around the state.
“We’re going to see what we can do against those big teams,” said Coach Sue Doering.
Colfax, one of the smaller schools to rate an invitation, will start pool play Friday at Rogers. They will play Rogers Friday at 7:30 p.m., Kennewick Saturday at 9 and Heritage of Vancouver at 11.
Depending on their pool record, the Bulldogs will be assigned in the crossover format to play out the run in the last half of the event Saturday.
Coach Doering will take the team north Friday after booking two three-game wins against two league foes during the week.
Saturday they shut down Kettle Falls 25-14 25-10 and 25-11 in the homecoming round. The local Bulldogs posted strong lead in the first game, and Doering called out the reserves to finish it.
Tuesday they booked the same pattern with a three-gamer over Mary Walker of Springdale.
“Our serving just dominated, and we took off,” Coach Doering said.
In the first game Tuesday against the Chargers, Amelie Bruya served 13 straight points, and Taylor Lange followed with 5. In the second game, Misty Skelton served four straight and then five straight when the rotation came back around to her.
Sophomore Bailey Mackleit hit seven straight at the end of the match.
Bruya finished 14-14 serving with six aces, and Skelton finished with 14-15 with 10 aces.
Kettle Falls Saturday proved durable, but Colfax still took the league win in three straight, 25-14 25-10 and 25-11.
