Eagle XC take fifth at Pasco run

St. John/Endicott girls placed fifth among 10 teams, many from large schools, Saturday in the Pasco Invitational. The event was on the Big Cross course which was developed for cross country in the sagelands north of Pasco.

Top team score for the girls run, which totaled 98 entrants, was University with 22. Other top scores were Hanford 88, Pullman 106, Tri-Cities Prep 111 and the Eagles at 148.

Morgan Willson of Colfax of led the field with an 18:20 clocking. Finishers for SJE were Heather Siegel, 13th at 22:04; Megan Gfeller, 32nd at 24:12; Jade Porubeck, 40th at 24:49; Annie Bailey, 51st at 26:0l; Tallon Smith, 70th at 30:04, and Allison Rich, 98th sat 36:33.

Seth Deal of Waitsburg/Prescott topped a field of 89 boys with 16:21. SJLW finishers for the Eagles were Justin Wargo, 83rd at 21:48; Caleb Rich, 84th at 21:59; Darcy Stamper, 88th at 22:37, and Caleb Kolb, 89th at 23:01.

Wednesday at the St. John Golf course Asotin’s Chase Teigen topped Seth Deal 15:37 to 15.51 in a race which included a loop in the hills behind Webb’s Slough. The course covered 2.9 miles, short of the standard 5K. Deal actually ran the course once before race time.

Caleb Rich was 17th for SJLW with an 18:36. Other finsihers were Stamper, 24th at 19:27, Wargo, 33rd at 21:00, and Kolb 37th at 21:35.

TCP won the boys team honor with a 22, Other team scores were Asotin 39, and Pomeroy 77. The entry for the boys race totaled 49.

Victoria Nunez of TCP led 31 runners in the girls race at St. John with a 20:07. Lucy Eggelston of Asotin was second at 20:17, and Heather Siegel was third with a 20:28 for the Eagles. Other finishers for the Eagles were Megan Gfeller, 11th at 22:30; Jade Porubeck, 12th at 22:52; Annie Bailey, 14th ast 23:01; Tallon Smith, 23rd at 25:40, and Allson Rich, 29th at 31:06.

Asotin took the team honors with a 29; TCP tallied 39, and the Eagle girls booked a 55.
