Nighthawks keep string after 5 games at St. John

Tekoa/Oakesdale girls had to battle through five games at St. John Tuesday night, but they came out with their undefeated league record now at eight matches. While the Eagles and Hawks battled at St. John, Colton’s net team advanced their SE record to 6-1 in a four-game home win over Pomeroy.

Tuesday’s other league matches saw the GP Vikings stop LaCrosse/Washtucna in three straight to book a split for the week’s action.

TEKOA/OAKESDALE and the Eagles locked it up at 2-2 Tuesday at St. John, and the Nighthawks kept their string going with a 15-12 in the last game. The decider started with the two teams trading points, but the ‘hawks pegged a lead at midway and kept it.

Kaela Dewan put up 30 assists against the Eagles, and Cassy Mendoza hit 26 kills. She was backed by 15 shots from Eden Anderson.

Gretchen Van Lith hit 19 kills for the Eagles, and Sierra McCanna had 16 assists. Line score for the first four games was 25-14 19-25 25-16 and 25-27.

Tekoa/Oakesdale went to St. John after dropping Touchet in three straight at Tekoa in the Thursday round. Mendoza hit 12 kills against the chiefs and Katie Renstrom hit six aces.

The Nighthawks are booked into the big crossover tournament at Spokane this weekend.

COLTON Tuesday dropped the first game to Pomeroy, 23-25, then came back to win the next three to move their mark to 10-3 overall. Line for the last three games was 25-21 25-10 25-22.

Kaden Dahmen hit five of the nine Wildcat aces against the Pirates, and Jenna Moser had seven kills. Kaitlin Druffel had eight digs.

The Wildcats hosted Tuesday after taking a four-game win at Palouse against the Vikings in the Thursday round. The Vikings jumped the Wildcats 25-15 in the first game, but after that the blue club hit their groove for wins in the next three games, 25-23 25-20 and 25-20.

Cassie Thompson hits 16 kills and five blocks for the Vikings at Palouse. She was also credited with 13 digs. Holly Leendertsen had 14 assists.

GARFIELD/ Palouse bounced back in the Tuesday round to take out LaCrosse/Washtucna in three games, 25-13 25-14 and 25-22. Thompson had nine kills and four blocks against the Tigercats, and Leendertsen booked 19 assists. Terrie Taylor hit seven aces off the line.

Logan Harder hit 10 kills for LW and Anne Fleming was credited with 10 assists. Fleming and Kadie Whinersy each had four digs.

LaCROSSE/ Washtucna Thursday won the other five-game battle in SE action at Rosalia. The Tigercats booked a 15-10 in the fifth game to win the long match. They took the last one after fighting out of an 0-2 deficit at the start of the match.

Line score for the match was 18-25 19-25 25-19 26-24 and 15-10.

Harder finished with 24 kills at Rosalia, and Fleming had 21 assists. Haley Dorman and Brooklyn Hostetler each had six digs.

Briann Maley hit 13 kills for the Spartans, and Kristin Paulson had 13 digs. Mackenzie Reddish blocked five Tigercat shots.
