Funeral services for Geraldine (Geri) Lederer, 84, will be today, Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Latah Country Bible Church in Latah. A private family burial will precede the church service. Pastor Mark Mewhinney will officiate at the service. Mrs. Lederer died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Hospice House of Spokane following a long battle with cancer.
Born March 6, 1927, at Palouse to Clarence and Vera Whitcher Shepherd, she attended schools in Palouse, Cheney and Spokane where she graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1945. She then attended the University of Idaho in Moscow for the next two years. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and was the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. Following college, Geri worked as a service representative for a local phone company for a few years.
Geri married Bob Curtis in 1949, and the couple made their home in the Colfax area. The couple divorced in 1970, and Geri moved to Spokane. In Spokane, Geri worked as a teller at Equitable Savings and Loan Co. for the next five years.
She married Gordon Lederer July 12, 1975, in Portland, and they made their home at Latah where Gordon farmed and she was a homemaker. Gordon retired from farming in 1993, and the couple moved to Spokane in 2006.
She was a member of the Manito Golf and Country Club in Spokane where she enjoyed golf and playing bridge. Geri also enjoyed arranging flowers and had worked at the flower shop in Latah for several years.
Survivors include her husband Gordon at the Spokane home; her daughter Sharon (Ted) Penner, Dayton; a sister, Virginia Allred, Elk Grove, Calif .; a granddaughter, and great -granddaughter.
