BOWS WILL BE CHRISTMAS DECOR

Colfax Chamber of Commerce planned to place bows on streetlight standards for the holiday decorations this year. A volunteer work party was scheduled to put the bows in place on Tuesday.

Also, a wooden Santa and reindeer display was placed at the Codger Pole Park along Main Street.

McGregor Co. has volunteered to take over the job of placing a Christmas tree with lights and other decorations in the lot next to US Bank.

Also, decorations will be placed at the Firemen’s Park on South Main and at the Maggie Cain Park at the 195 and Sixth Street intersection on the North end of Colfax.

The Chamber-sponsored lighted parade on Mill Street has been scheduled for Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. with the lineup set to begin at 5:15 p.m. at the Rosauer’s lot.

City Parks Superintendent Steve Larkin last week removed 27 flower pots which were placed along Main Street during the summer season. The pots were planted and tended by business owners and employees along the street during the summer months. The pots are stored under the Highway 26 bridge during the winter months.

Larkin said he hopes to get more of the pots out along Main Street next season.
