Pirates face
Colfax senior Morgan Willson Sunday placed 16th among a field of 78 runners in the 13th edition of the Border Clash race at the Nike World Headquarters Campus in Beaverton, Ore. Willson qualified for the race with her win two weeks ago of the all-B cross country race at Sun Willows Golf course in Pasco.
She clocked 16:46 in the race with is a 25-second improvement over her clocking two years ago when she qualified after winning the state B race in Pasco as a sophomore.
The race features top finishers from cross country state events in Oregon and Washington.
The Sunday race on the Nike Campus at Beaverton is shorter than the 5K race run by the state qualifiers in Pasco.
Willson was accompanied on the trip by her parents and Coach Jamie Kinley. She is now planning to run in the Footlocker West Coast Regional at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif., next Saturday, Dec. 3.
