Shawnee Rock gets $1,500 DOE fine

Pullman-based Shawnee Rock was issued a $1,500 fine from the Washington Department of Ecology. Spokesperson Jani Gilbert said the company was operating without a water storage tank for dust suppression while mining at the Hayfield Quarry in Pullman.

Ecology posted its list of third quarter 2011 penalties last week. The penalty was issued Aug. 31.

According to the department’s news release, the penalty may be reduced through an appeal with the Pollution Control Hearings Board.
