Willson places 16th at Walnut

Colfax senior Morgan Willson wrapped up her cross country season Saturday by competing in the elite Footlocker Western Regional race at Walnut, Calif. Willson finished 16th among a field of 145 runners from all over the western states.

The race was at Mount San Antonio College.

Willson noted the hilly 5K course surprised her last year when she made her first entry in the race, but this year she trained more for the terrain for a better finish.

Winner’s time for the Footlocker race was 17:46.

The California trip wraps up a cross country campaign which saw Willson bag a second championship in the state B final at Pasco.
