Three SJE wrestlers ventured to Potlatch Friday with mixed results in a match tourney, and the Eagles returned to Potlatch Saturday for the giant pod tourney and were blanked with mostly losses coming off pins.
The crew hopes to advance their performance up a notch Saturday when they head for the Springdale tournament.
Friday, Micah Selk pinned Thomas Crawford of Orofino in the second round of a 170 match at Potlatch.
Rowdy Brown lost to Kyle Cultting of Moscow, 2-8, and was pinned by a second Moscow wrestler in the third round.
Kaleb Kolb was pinned by A.J. Rhodes of Kootenai in the 132 class.
Saturday in the pod format, none of Eagles advanced to the finals. Selk, Kolb and Brown all sustained first-round pins in their openers. Selk was the first victim of Pomeroy’s Tory Knebel who landed in first place in the 170 class. Gabe Davis, a 182 pounder, stretched his start to the second round.
