Colton driver hurt

Vivian M. Strachan, 35, Colton, was transported by ambulance to Whitman Hospital Thursday, Dec. 15, after sustaining possible shoulder injury in a two-car accident south of Steptoe. According to the Washington State Patrol report, Strachan had parked a 2004 Hyundai Accent on the shoulder of the highway at 8:25 a.m.

The Hyundai was struck by a 1997 Subaru Impressa which was being driven southbound by Paul B. Golter, 37, Rosalia. Road conditions were described as snow and slush.

Heather Buckles, 20, Mount Vernon, was unhurt when she lost control of a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer north of Steptoe on Highway 195 at 7:53 a.m. Thursday. According to the WSP report, Buckles was driving northbound and lost control of the Trailblazer while attempting to pass another vehicle. The Traiblazer struck the guardrail along the northbound side of the highway a half mile north of mile marker 56.
